About us
The Association of Female Artisans of the Sierra Nevada is an organisation that contributes, advices and represents the Kankua women and their rights. By promoting the improvement of their quality of life, it aids in consolidating the solidarity of their culture towards a more peaceful and just society.
From 2012, the Association has 100 all-female members living in the township of La Mina. Amongst them, elders and young girls come together to strengthen the artisanal craft.
Our bucket bags generate large part of our revenue and help us share our cultural legacy, which is printed in our designs, with the world.
Throughout our journey, our numbers have increased, enabling us to create a greater community with neighbouring townships that share our Kankua ancestry.
We have participated in large national and international artisanal fairs (Miami, Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, amongst others). These platforms allow us to take pride in our work and share it with you.
We have received the support of several organisations such as Artesanías de Colombia, SENA, and The Governorship of the Cesar Department.
